Bala Mela 2010

ECHO (Empowerment of Children and Human rights Organization), in conformity with its goal to ensure the Human rights of the delinquents and neglected juveniles, has commenced an ambitious program; the Bala Mela, in the year 2002. After the success of this MEGA EVENT, ECHO once again proposed to organize the Children's Carnival for the children on the streets; these would be children in difficult circumstances, juvenile delinquents and children that are less fortunate than others. This will be on Sunday 21st November 2010 at the Jyothy High School Ground, Kacharakanahalli, Hennur Road, Bangalore. Bala Mela 2010 is inspired by the success of previous Bala Melas, which was organized by the organization ECHO in association with 80 like-minded organizations. The Children's Carnival is aimed at bringing together 10,000 children that are in difficult circumstances and bridging the gap between these children and the school going children in terms of academic abilities and inculcates in them a sense of individual dignity and social responsibility. The day long event will comprise of various activities: games, medical health and dental checks, food and awareness programs wielded by volunteers. We at LeapStart knew from the moment we heard about the event that we wanted to make a contribution in any way possible to the event and besides the "regular" way a firm sponsors an event we would be sending our staff (who volunteered) for the event to lend a helping hand and in whatever way possible to contribute to the event and try as much as possible to make the day an enjoyable one for the children that will be there. LeapStart as a company is a completely "pro corporate social responsibility" organization for the simple reason that we believe in giving back to the community and trying to make a difference. It is why we do what we do, we aim to make a difference in the lives of the children we work with; both in school and out and help them as individuals in the long run.
